These aerial photos show much of Sweetwater Forest, in the darker oval in the smaller photo to the left. The larger photo above, labeled with features at Sweetwater Forest, with Sheeps & Long Pond, and other features familiar to the Cape's Camping Enthusiasts also visible. About a third of the campground, (most of C-Area) is located to the far left and was out of frame in the shot above. This clearly adds real meaning to "not seeing Sweetwater Forest through the trees!" Sweetwater's Main Road, called Whittlesbee Lane on some old maps of Brewster, is visible in places to the right of the "camper" shown heading into Sweetwater. Our Entrance exits from Rte.124, at 676 Harwich Road, and then winds its way away from the noise and bustle of Cape Cod's busy road traffic, and into the tranquil, peaceful woodlands known as Sweetwater Forest. Cape Cod Campers in the know have enjoyed Sweetwater Forest as their vacation destination on the Cape since 1958-whether for the weekend-or the season. Sweetwater's lake shore on Griffith's Pond is shown on the bottom right of the oval, beneath our "retired" cranberry bog-the lighter green area-which is a wonderful habitat for a variety of native wildlife. Lily pads and a variety of amphibians share some of the shore to the right of the oval. Also visible is Sweetwater Farms, Appaloosa horse breeding farm and the Home & Birthplace of Multiple World & National Champions. Brewster's 9 beautiful Public Town Beaches, all well maintained by the Town of Brewster, consist of 7 diverse beaches along the gentle shores of Cape Cod Bay with two additional Brewster Town beaches located on beautiful freshwater Lakes- Sheeps Pond & Long Pond, each with Sandy Beaches, clean water and Boat Ramps, located not quite 0.25 mile from Sweetwater Forest. Bike Trail access to both beaches is a beautiful ride! On the upper left of the photo is Sheeps Pond, well stocked for fishing (3HP Limit on Boat Motors) with crystal water, and easily accessed by the Rail Trail, only a 10th of a mile from Sweetwater. Long Pond, shown at the top is a water lover's paradise. Extending two towns, there is no limit on boat HP, making it a water skiing, tubing, swimming, and fishing paradise. Brewster's Public Beach at Long Pond features a roped off swimming area, with a Life Guard on duty during the summer days. Long Pond is also easily accessible via the Cape Cod Rail Trail, and is about 2/10th of a mile from Sweetwater Forest. In Brewster one beach sticker is good for all 9 beaches. We believe Brewster is the Heart of Cape Cod in ways that go beyond its central Cape Cod location. Experience Brewster on Cape Cod and let our beautiful Town help you decide for yourself! |
After leaving Rte 124, at 676 Harwich Road, (shown to the left) and turning into Sweetwater's Entrance, our Main Road, (shown below) takes you away from the noise and busy bustle of Cape Cod, into a seemingly timeless, peaceful atmosphere of nature, imparting an almost immediate feeling of soothing, calm relaxation. |
